About Us

Set on the colorful boardwalk at the foot of Newport Beach’s Balboa Pier, The Balboa Inn is a place where casual beachside ambiance and classic Old World charm combine in a historic landmark that’s lured Southern California's rich and famous for decades.

Fun Zone in marina

Our upscale inn was completed in 1929 and welcomed its first guests soon after. During that time, we have entertained such notables as Howard Hughes, Barry Goldwater and a host of other politicians, entertainers and honeymooners. Once owned by the Los Angeles Lakers’ Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the inn’s nine-foot ceilings still bear a telltale sign of the days when the basketball star would often visit.

Though historic in spirit and charming in character, The Balboa Inn offers everything today’s traveler seeks when it comes to comforts and amenities. Our recent six-million-dollar renovation has left us sparkling with two terraces overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a beachfront Italian tile sundeck with hot tub, 45 beautifully reimagined rooms and suites with the best of everything and convenient covered valet parking.

Escape to The Balboa Inn, where absolutely nothing stands between you and the perfect Southern California beach getaway.
